DALE COUNTY, Ala. (WSFA/WTVY/Gray News) — A sheriff’s deputy in Alabama was injured Friday night while responding to storm damage from Hurricane Isaias.Dale County Sheriff Mason Bynum said one of his deputies was responding to the scene of a rollover vehicle crash with a downed tree on U.S. Highway 231 in Newton.A car struck the tree, causing it to fall. Multiple other vehicles then hit the tree, Bynum said.While deputies were on scene, another tree fell, landing on one of the involved vehicles and entrapping the driver.The tree struck one of Bynum’s deputies as it fell. Bynum confirmed the injuries were “minor.” The deputy was taken to an area hospital.The driver was extricated from the vehicle.
