LAS VEGAS (KVVU/Gray News) — Duane “Keffe D” Davis has been sentenced in the 1996 shooting death murder case of Tupac Shakur in Las Vegas. On Tuesday, Judge Carli Kierny sentenced Davis to 40 years to life in prison for orchestrating the murder of Shakur. A jury found Davis guilty on Aug. 31 after less than three hours of deliberations on charges that included first-degree murder with the use of a deadly weapon.Davis had already been in police custody since his arrest in September 2023.Prosecutor Marc DiGiacomo said Tuesday that Davis is “guaranteed to die” behind bars.Shakur’s killing went unsolved for years until Davis, a former leader of the South Side Compton Crips, gave interviews and published his role in the shooting in his 2019 tell-all memoir.According to DiGiacomo, Davis was trying to profit off a killing that he committed, and for that he does not deserve the minimum sentence.“In my mind he deserves the maximum possible sentence,” DiGiacomo added.
