VENICE, Fla. (WWSB) - High water flooded Manasota Key Road in Venice, which trapped two vehicles prompting officials to block the street.Officials said waves from the Gulf were pushing water and sand across the pavement. The road was blocked at about 3:30 p.m., and officials urged drivers to stay away.Water was about ankle-deep in one area and closer to knee-deep farther down the road. Waves were crashing onto the shoreline and carrying water and sand across the lanes.Todd West, a resident whose vehicle was stuck, said the flooding began around 1:30 p.m. and had worsened.“No, because the water wasn’t high at all. It was all road and a little bit of sand but once that care stopped it kind of log jammed everybody and we got stuck. Two of us out of twenty,” West said. The vehicles were still waiting for a tow truck.
