DESTIN, Fla. (WALA) - Hurricane Isaias left flooding, downed power lines and debris across Destin after making landfall as a strong Category 2 hurricane. The city is working to clear roads and restore power as crews address the damage left behind.Residents assess damageJonathan Schmidt rode out the storm at his house and spent the morning working to get his fence back in place.“This is the big gust. One of the big gusts that came through, I heard a large crash and was like welp that’s got to be the fence and sure enough when I walked out around 9:30 it was like yep, the fence was definitely down,” Schmidt said.Schmidt said he has some minor leaks in his house and another fence that needs to be fixed, but said he’s surprised the damage wasn’t worse.“Normally with a hurricane you kind of have the back end that you have to worry about as well so with the storm passing over us, I went and looked and that back end just wasn’t there, so I was surprised.
